Description7. We saw the White Sands in late afternoon & our visit extended to sunset time.

8. According to a Spanish legend, the ghost of a beautiful woman, called the White Wraith, comes nightly, dressed in the flowing white robes of her wedding gown, to search for her lover, who had been lost & buried in the Great White Sands.

9. as you stand there peering into the darkness, the silence of the desert is rather frightening.

10. It is time to leave the White Sands National Monument, established in January, 1933. We must return in the daylight, to see & understand more about this preserve.
