DescriptionA woman stands on the top of a sand dune in White Sands National Monument in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She is wearing a bathing suit and looking toward the camera. The sand dunes go off into the background, but there are mountains in the distance.
A typed caption on the back of the photograph reads, "Over a period of thousands of years prevailing winds formed the White Sands of southern New Mexico. the Sands have been piled into great dunes of nearly 100 percent pure gypsum covering 176,000 acres in the Tularosa Basin. The Sands are located about 18 miles southwest of Alamogordo, New Mexico, on U.S. Highway 70."
