DescriptionEight children play in the sand at the base of dunes in White Sands National Monument near Alamogordo, New Mexico. There are tire tracks going over a dune in the background. Footprints cover the sand in the foreground.
A typed caption on the back of the photograph reads, "There is fun for the entire family here, scrambling over theese massive dunes of white gypsum. Now a National Monument the great White Sands of New Mexico draw many thousands of visitors every year. There are some 176,000 acres of these Albino Hills, composed practically of pure gypsum."
