DescriptionThis colorful map showing the territories of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah also has the northern part of Mexico, California, and the more northern Washington and Oregon states outside of a red border. Mountain ranges are drawn onto the map. New Mexico here features above a thin line of land for Arizona. There is a border of interweaving thorny vines that wraps around the irregular polygon shape of the territories within the red border. Within each territory, different counties are highlighted green, red, or left the beige color of the map. Sometime in the 1800s, "Alburquerque" dropped its second "r." Here, the town is spelled "Alberquerque."
