DescriptionThis map focuses primarily on the upper Rio Grande (Rio del Norte) region but also marks the French territory of Louisiana and multiple Mexican territories. Present-day America west of the Mississippi River, from Colorado south, and Guatemala north mark the geographic boundaries of this map. The title of Spanish North America is in the lower left above the scale information and the North Pacific Ocean. Each separate region has its own color scheme and New Mexico is depicted as thin slice of land between French Louisiana and Unknown Parts of what we now know as Arizona. The map is surrounded by two thin-lined borders.
