DescriptionThis map of the city and port of Constantinople, Turkey, comes from the French edition of Sebastian Münster's Cosmographia. The map shows an aerial view of the city and also utilizes drawings of boats and major architectural landmarks of present-day Istanbul. The map is bordered by a thin black line and has a border. Across the top of the map, within the border, it says, "L'effigie de la ville de Confantinoble felon qu'elle eft de noftre temps foubz le Turc." In the upper left corner is the number "1162." In the upper right corner is the number "1163." Below the map, there are two columns of text that describe various points and features illustrated on the map.On View
