DescriptionThis is a color map of the Indian Ocean showing an enlarged map of Mauritius near the lower right corner. It has a decorative border of yellow and red flowers on undulating vines. At the top of the map, inside a small frame, it says, "ISLANDS IN THE INDIAN OCEAN." There are five illustrations on the map. The one over the horn of Africa is labeled: "NATIVE VILLAGE MADAGASCAR." In the Indian Ocean, between Africa and India, there is an illustration labeled: "POINT DE GALLE, CEYLON." Below this is an illustration labeled: "PORT LOUIS MAURITIUS." Below this is an illustration labeled: "NORTH BEACH, PRINCE OF WALES ISLAND." In the lower left corner, outside the frame, it says, "The Illustrations Drawn & Engraved by H. Winkles."
