DescriptionThis black and white photograph shows a group of Southern Christian Leadership Conference marchers outside of the Jefferson Davis Hotel in Montgomery, Alabama. The marchers are shown from the waist up. The photograph has been taken behind them as they walk towards the right side of the frame. Two black men are most prominently shown in the fame. The man on the left is wearing a dark shirt and a jacket. The jacket is hanging from the hood that is covering his head like a cape. There is writing on the back of the jacket. He has his arms raised and is waving towards the hotel. The man on the right is wearing a striped jacket and has his hat in his left hand and a pair or shoes in his right. Both are raised towards the hotel. The other marchers are wearing casual clothing. The hotel is a large stone building with decorative engravings and a balcony. Above the balcony is a large sign that reads "JEFFERSON DAVIS / HOTEL." A large group of mostly white men in formal suits stand on the balcony, some are leaning on the edge. They look down onto the marchers on the street.
