DescriptionThis lithograph is of a mural painting of the South Pacific region. The map shows the Asian continent in the upper left corner, with the Australian continent near the lower left corner. North and South America are depicted on the right side of the page. Each continent is covered with illustrations of the types of commodity goods made or traded from each place. For example, there are illustrations of lumber, animal pelts, fruits and vegetables, and fish. On the bottom of the page, in the right half of the map, there is a key with colors and icons corresponding to images on the map. In the lower left corner, there are two hands holding a bundle of fruits and vegetables, with a fish tail coming out of the front of the bundle. Above this, in an arc, it says, "ECONOMY OF THE PACIFIC." Below this, in small, blue text, it says, "COVARRUBIAS." In the lower left, outside the illustration, it says, "Copyright Nineteen Hundred Forty by San Francisco Bay Exposition Company." At the bottom center, outside the illustration, it says, "PLATE IV: PAGEANT OF THE PACIFIC: MIGUEL COVARRUBIAS/Published by Pacific House, San Francisco, California." In the lower right, outside the illustration, it says, "Lithographed in the U.S.A. by H.S. Crocker Company, Inc. and Schwabacher-Frey Company."
