DescriptionThis color diptych shows maps of the Falkland Islands and Patagonia. There is a decorative border of vines wrapped around a yellow frame. At the top, inside a circular frame and in red text, it says, "FALKLAND ISLANDS/AND/PATAGONIA." The top half of the page is a map of the Falkland Islands. The islands are white with a red line border, and the city names are listed. There are three illustrations within this upper segment of the print. In the upper right corner, there is an illustration of ships near craggy lands. Below this it says, "JASON ISLANDS." In the lower left corner, there is an illustration of penguins, labeled "PENGUINS." In the lower right corner, there is an illustration of birds, and below this it says, "SEA EAGLES." The bottom half of the page shows Patagonia. The north is at the left edge of the page, and text is oriented at a perpendicular angle to the bottom of the page. Patagonia is colored in yellow and has city names. At the top edge of this segment of the print, there is part of West Falkland, outlined in red. There are two illustrations at the top of this segment. On the left is an illustration of three people in a boat with fishing sticks. Below this it says, "FUGEANS." The illustration on the right shows ships with snowy mountains in the background. Below this it says, "CHRISTMAS SOUND/TIERRA DEL FUEGO." In the lower left corner, outside the frame, it says, "The Illustrations by H. Winkles & Engraved by W. Lacey." At center, outside the frame, it says, "JOHN TALLIS & COMPANY LONDON & NEW YORK." In the lower right corner, outside the frame, it says, "The Map Drawn & Engraved by J. Rapkin."
