Douglas Fairbanks

1883 Denver, Colorado – 1939 Santa Monica, California
BiographyDouglas Fairbanks was a leading actor and producer in the silent film era. He was married to Mary Pickford between 1920 and 1936. He began his career on the New York stage, where he was admired for the same qualities that were to make him the silent screen’s most beloved hero: a cheerful exuberance, moral courage, a devil-may-care attitude, and physical agility. He used these traits to their best advantages in swashbuckling adventure films. His film credits include: Intolerance (1916), The Mark of Zorro (1921), Robin Hood (1921), The Three Musketeers (1921), The Black Pirate (1934), and The Private Life of Don Juan (1934).
