Rudolph Valentino
Born Rodolfo Pietro Filiberto Raffaello Guglielmi di Valentina d'Antonguella in 1895, Rudolph Valentino was an Italian actor most prominent in Hollywood during the silent film era. 19-year-old Rodolfo Gugliemi arrived in New York City from Italy in 1913. After landing a few dancing jobs as Rudolph Valentino he made his way to Hollywood where eventually he found work as a bit player. In 1921 Valentino was given the lead in The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. In 1923 he authored Day Dreams, a small best-selling book of poetry. He died of complications from appendicitis at age 31. His film credits include: Uncharted Seas (1921), Camille (1921), The Sheik (1921), The Young Rajah (1922), Monsieur Beaucaire (1924), The Eagle (1924), and The Son of Sheik (1926).
