Edmund Cobb is the eldest of Eddie Ross Cobb and William Cobb’s four children. The Cobb family owned a photography shop, Cobb Studio, in New Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Edmund was named after his grandfather, Edmund G. Ross, the territorial governor of New Mexico from 1885 to 1889. Edmund Cobb was an actor and performed in early silent films in Albuquerque, Colorado, and Chicago. He eventually went to Hollywood and became a western film actor in 1915, and was known for performing “dare-devil tricks” and stunts such as riding bucking horses. Edmund worked in 288 films as a character actor. His last film was in 1966. Edmund married twice, to Helen Hayes (1914-1925) and Vivian Marie Winter (divorced 1974). He did not have children.
