BiographyJackie Coogan, born John Leslie Coogan, was an American actor and comedian who began his film career as a child actor in the silent era. He gained fame in Charlie Chaplin's film The Kid (1921). He was one of Hollywood's first child actors. He later had family legal and financial issues which led to the "Coogan Act" or the California Child Actor's Bill, the first established financial legal protection for the child performers.
