BiographyLeah Garcia Nampeyo (1928-1974) was born into a family of Hopi-Tewa potters. She was the granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano and the daughter of Fannie Polacca Nampeyo, sister of Elva Tewaguna Nampeyo, Harold Polacca Nampeyo, Sr., Tonita Hamilton Nampeyo, Tom Polacca, Elsworth Polacca and Iris Youvella Nampeyo; wife of Lewis Garcia; mother of Melda Nampeyo, James Garcia Nampeyo and Rayvin Garcia. She is known for her black and red on yellow pottery seed jars and made pottery for the market in 1945.
