BiographyDarlene James Nampeyo, born 1956, is a Hopi-Tewa potter. She is a great-great granddaughter of Nampeyo, great granddaughter of Annie Healing, granddaughter of Rachel Namingha Nampeyo and the daughter of Ruth James Nampeyo. She was trained by her aunts Dextra Quotskuyva Nampeyo and Priscilla Namingha, as well as her grandmother. She started making pottery for the market around 1986. She is known for her black and red on yellow vases, figurines, tiles, plates, jars and bowls.
