BiographyMark Tahbo was born in 1958 from First Mesa. He came from a long line of potters, including his great-grandmother, Grace Chapella, and grandmother, Alma Tahbo. His sisters, Diana and Pam, also became potters. While Tahbo learned pottery on his own, he was inspired by his great-grandmother who continued making pottery after her hundredth birthday. Tahbo started making pottery for the market in 1978. He worked for a short time as a cook at the Polacca Day School before becoming a full time potter. He is known for pottery with thin walls and styles that range from traditional to innovative.
