DescriptionThis black and white photograph shows a group of young voting rights activists huddling outside a courthouse in the rain in Montgomery, Alabama. There are five people visible in the photo. Four are visible from the waist up and are looking just outside of the photo frame. There is a man on the left facing towards the right with a hood on. Only the front of his face is visible but his right arm is around a woman and the other is helping to hold a tarp up over the group. He is reaching around a woman who has her right hand out with the palm up. She is looking towards the left side of the frame. In the middle is a man who is also holding a tarp over the group to protect against the rain with his right hand and is also holding the woman with his left. This man in the middle is looking directly at the viewer. On the right side of the photo are two women who are wearing jackets and are also underneath the tarp. The rightmost woman is shorter than the others and is looking towards the right of the photograph, the other woman is looking towards the left. The blurry edge of buildings is visible at the upper left corner.
