DescriptionIn this black and white photograph a group of student demonstrators hold a rally after police violence interrupts their march in Montgomery, Alabama. The group is large and is made of white and black, men and women. There are five demonstrators who are standing in the foreground of the photograph in the front of the group. From left to right there is: a woman with her head bowed in a formal white shirt, a woman in a buttoned up jacket looking towards the left of the frame, a man wearing a dark coat and glasses, a woman wearing a white shirt and jacket and glasses, and a woman with her head turned to the left wearing a dark jacket. Behind this front group are several more rows of demonstrators standing directly behind as well as on a the steps of a building in the background. All of the demonstrators have their hands clasped with each other. Some of the demonstrators have their arms crossed in front of their bodies to hold the hand of the person beside them, others have their arms at their sides. The building in the background is wide and has multiple white pillars holding up the roof.On View
