DescriptionThis black and white image shows three Black men carrying a United States of America flag while marching from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. On the left side of the photograph are two men. The side profile of one is visible on the leftmost edge, and he is looking straight forward. The other man stands a little beyond him and he is turned toward to the viewer, looking towards the ground. He is also holding the edges of the flag in both of his hands to prevent it from touching the ground. On the right side of the image is another man who is holding the flag pole, he looking towards the right. The American flag takes up the majority of the photograph. The stars and bottom stripes are the most visible, with the rest of the flag being held. In the background there are telephone poles, railroad tracks, and the woods of Lowndes County, Alabama.
