BiographyCamilio Sunflower Tafoya (1902-1995), a potter from Santa Clara Pueblo, was the son of potter Sera Fina Tafoya and Geronimo Tafoya. His sisters, Margaret Tafoya and Christina Naranjo, and wife, Agapita Tafoya, also made pottery. He started to make pottery in the mid-1920s and specialized in carved blackware for years. Two of his children, Grace Medicine Flower and Joseph Lonewolf, also became well known potters and Tafoya frequently collaborated with them. Like his children, Tafoya began experimenting with intricate sgraffito design for pottery. He began to create miniature pottery in the 1970s.
