BiographyNathan Youngblood is a potter from Santa Clara Pueblo. He was born in 1954, in Fort Carson, Colorado. His family traveled extensively during his adolescence because of his father’s military career. His mother, Mela Youngblood was a potter, as were her parents, Margaret and Alcario Tafoya. His sister, Nancy Youngblood, also became a potter. He learned to make pottery from his grandparents; how to make and polish the pottery from Margaret and the designs and carving from Alcario. Youngblood has been making pottery since 1972. He has served on boards for the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial, the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts, and the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
