Celes Tafoya

Celes Tafoya is a potter from Santa Clara born in 1932. She is the daughter of potter Legoria Tafoya and the niece of painter Pablita Velarde. She learned pottery making from her mother and frequently collaborated with her until Legoria died in 1984. She has since worked with her daughter, Evelyn Tafoya, who she taught. She is known for her blackware wich usually includes designs carved with rounded edges.
