DescriptionA concha-shaped silver and spiny oyster brooch. The central focus of this stylish silver pin consists of an oval-shaped spiny oyster shell with natural grooves set in a ridged bezel. Surrounding the coral-colored shell is platform of undulating points hemmed by a thin silver band. A crest of delicate silver tines flare outward from the shorter ends, while the sides are adorned with neatly arranged, hand-stamped slash marks, crescents, and paisley-like curls. Originally, Jennifer Curtis hallmarked her pieces in the traditional style “J. Curtis”, but eventually transitioned to using “Jennifer,” as seen on the reverse here, in order to more clearly distinguish her work as that of a woman artist.
