DescriptionThis matchbox was produced by the Diamond Match Company in the 1940s. The box frame is made out of wood, with the sliding-out compartment being made out of cardboard. The wooden frame is almost completely covered with a navy blue paper, which is glued around the frame. The cardboard slider is also a similar navy blue color as the frame. The top of the box reads "RED TOP" in big, bold white letters, which is enclosed in a red rectangle. A larger navy blue rectangle surrounds the red one, with text positioned right under the lable "RED TOP," which reads "SAFETY MATCH Made in the U.S.A. by THE DIAMOND MATCH CO." This navy rectangle on the top of the box is then enclosed with a red border.
