DescriptionBobby Simmons and another man stand in a field during a rest break surrounded by other marchers on the final leg of the Selma to Montgomery march in this black and white photograph. The figure to the left, is Bobby Simmons, a member of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. He holds a flag of the United States of America on a white pole. Simmons has sunscreen is spread over his face as if it was white paint, the word "VOTE" has been written on his forehead out of the sunscreen. At the time, Simmons was not yet of voting age, but proudly expressed one of the major goals of the march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. The man next to Simmons is wearing a sweater with a "WE / SHALL / OVERCOME" pin pinned on. He is holding a cigarette in his left hand. Both him and Simmons are looking towards the viewer. There is a blurry image of a person's face and arm crossing into the foreground of the photo and the back of a billboard in the background.
