On his head he is wearing a hard hat that has the Confederate Flag printed on the front. He is holding his 16mm Bolex motion picture camera in his left hand and is pointing it towards the viewer. On the left side of Smith is a uniformed Montgomery police officer. The officer is wearing a light colored uniform with his police patch and rank stripes on his left arm and his police badge on the left side of his shirt. He is wearing a police hat and is looking away from the viewer. There are also men in suits and dark clothing next ot the officer and just outside of the photograph frame. On the right side of Smith stand a row of Alabama State Troopers in their uniforms with the badges and patches visible. They are also wearing hard hats. Most of the troopers are looking away from the viewer. In the background a wall is behind the row of troopers and a building can be seen behind the officer.
