DescriptionThis object is a Hurd Elevator and Retractor, which is a device often used during tonsillectomies. The object consists of two operating ends connected to a wider handle in the middle. The elevating end resembles a small, flattened spoon and is used to delicately manipulate the tissue around the tonsils. The other end is a small, rake-shaped retractor. Text stamped on one side of the handle reads "GERMANY", while initials "MBC" have been carved onto the opposite side. Moderate levels of rust are visible on the retractor end and near the stamped text.On View
