DescriptionThis object is a Tydings Tonsil Snare which is used to extract tonsils by extending a wire loop from the horizontal operating arm. The object has two scissor-like handles that are operated to extend or retract the wire loop located at the end of the operating arm. The base of the operating arm has screw-like serrations, allowing the length of the wire loop to be adjusted before using the operating handles. Initials "MBC" have been stamped into the object on one side of the hinge. This object is in good condition aside from some minor rust visible on the handles and on the screw of the operating arm.
