DescriptionTwo women, called Fern and May, walk down the paved sidewalk along Central Avenue in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico. The woman on the left wears a jacket over a knee-length skirt and white blouse. She is wearing sunglasses and her hair is pulled away from her face. She is smiling at the camera. The woman on the right wears a white knee-length zip-up dress and carries a dark purse in the crook of her left arm. She wears a hat and smiles at the camera. The two women hold hands. Handwriting below the photograph on the front reads, "Hi There 7/1/40". Handwriting on the back of the photograph reads, "Here we are again. The street photographer caught us. You like? We are both fine and working like hell. The office force all went on a picknick [the 'k's are crossed out]? (how the h do you spell it?) Anyhow, it turned into a "beer-bust". A wonderful time was had by all and many overhangs the next a.m. I have a grand boss now. But there sure is a big shake up in W.P.A. out here now. I seem to be in line for a raise - Hope it comes through. Love to all and keep your chin up. Fern and May".
