Albuquerque Figure Skating Club

Albuquerque, New Mexico, founded 1948
BiographyFounded in the mid-twentieth century, the Albuquerque Figure Skating Club had its members pay a monthly fee to practice at the IceLand arena but had to switch to the Lawrence Ice Skating Studio after the IceLand arena burned down in 1953. Despite drawbacks, the club remained intact and with a significant number of members, highlighting its importance in promoting ice sports through organized education. The club ultimately developed a figure skating community in New Mexico in which the club is still active over seventy-five years later.
