Tri-State Firemen's Convention

founded 1938
BiographyStarted by a group of department chiefs and other community members, the Tri-State Firemen's Convention encompasses New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah and had a significant impact on assisting various notable fire volunteer groups throughout the mid-to-late twentieth century with aspects like training sessions, firefighting competitions, demonstrations on equipment use, and networking opportunities to broaden camaraderie and allyship. Eventually, Utah was traded in with Arizona. Beginning the initiative with the initial goal of improving fire protection services, the Tri-State Firemen's Convention has evolved to over twenty departments. It has an annual meeting at a fire convention or school. Through its smaller-scale beginnings up until today, the Tri-State Firemen's Convention has helped develop training standards and harness further support for underfunded and smaller-town emergency services throughout the city.
