BiographyJuanita Horton, a Texas-born actress and playwright, began her film career in 1915 under the name Bessie Love. She achieved prominence playing innocent, young girls and wholesome leading ladies in silent and early sound films. She was nominated for an Oscar for The Broadway Melody (1929). In 1931 she retired from film but continued to perform on the London stage and write plays. Her film credits include: Intolerance (1916), A Daughter of the Poor (1917), The Idle Rich (1929), The Barefoot Contesa (1954), and The Ritz (1977).
