BiographyBillie Dove, born Bertha Eugenie Bohny, was a Swiss-American actress. Dove was also a pilot, poet, and painter. She legally changed her name to Lillian Bohny in the early 1920s and was known professionally as Billie Dove. She began her career as an artist’s model and Zeigfeld showgirl. She played heroines and showgirls in most of her films. Dove retired from the film industry in 1932. Her film credits include: Beyond the Rainbow (1922), Polly of the Follies (1923), Wanderer of the Wasteland (1923), The Black Pirate (1926), Painted Angel (1929), and Blondie of the Follies (1932).
