Marianne Navasie

1951 - 2007
BiographyBorn in 1951, Hopi-Tewa potter Marianne Navasie is the daughter of potter Joy Navasie (second Frogwoman) and granddaughter of potter Paqua Naha (first Frogwoman). She started making pottery when she was eighteen in her family’s white ware style with traditional designs, which she learned from her mother. Because Navasie was lefthanded and her mother was right handed, their designs flow in opposite directions. Marianne Navasie died in 2007.
