BiographyAlice Cling was born in 1946 in Cow Springs, Arizona, in the Tonalea area of the Navajo Reservation. She learned pottery from her mother, Rose Williams, and her great aunt, Grace Barlow. Alice married Jerry Cling and has four children who also make pottery. Her pots are known for being decorated simply with a traditional thin coat of pitch to allow the natural pigmentation of the clay and the fire to shine through.
