HOBO (Holly Moe & Barbara Miller)work Desert Hot Springs, California

HOBO is a collaborative artistic partnership between Holly Moe and Barbara Miller based in Desert Hot Springs, California.

Holly Moe was a regarded collage artist in the late 1990s, creating pieces shown in Texas galleries. Some were made from carpet that was often a found piece, burned, stained and then pieced together by Moe to create stunning large collage installations. After some success in Texas, she disappeared from the art scene until she arrived in the Southern California deserts.

Moe and Miller collaborated to create seven collages for a show at Art + Industry Gallery in Palm Springs, California. The collection thematically speaks to our world today. All of the pieces deal with space —architectural spaces that also allow you to see through the walls, the framing, and be transported, transcended into nature and the deep spaces beyond. The pieces combine precise and meticulously executed cut paper architectural images with Mylar and other highly reflective material to create images that seem to be floating in space.
