DescriptionEarl Ortman's Rider-Clark airplane known as Gilmore Special, registration number NR 14215 at the Albuquerque Airport in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The low-wing racing aircraft is refueling during the 1935 Bendix Trophy Race. The aircraft is in the center frame, parked with the right side is visible. There are several men standing and observing on both sides of the aircraft, in the foreground and background. Elevated fuel tanks are in the center background. The words, "Gilmore the Record Breaker" are on the fuselage near the cockpit. A large number "9" can also be seen on the fuselage. The registration number, "NR-14215" is painted on the tail of the plane.
Handwriting on the front upper left of the photograph reads, "Slim Menefee Bundy; F. Speakman; Borris Johnson; Walt Schommer 1935." Handwriting on the front lower left of the photograoh reads, "Bendix Trophy National Air Races - 1935; Ortman Refueling - Albuquerque Airport." A logo of Treadway, L.A. can be seen in the lower right.
Handwriting on the back of the photograph reads, "NR14215; This is Rider-Clark airplane; 9/21/35 Ortman - Keith Rider #51 only entry for Ortman."
