DescriptionEarl Ortman's Rider-Clark airplane known as Gilmore Special, registration number NR 14215 at the Albuquerque Airport in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the center frame, the aircraft is parked at an angle and is front-facing to the right. It is refueling at the Bendix Trophy Race of 1935. The words, "Gilman Special The Record Breaker" are on the engine cowling, by the propeller on the front of the plane. The registration number NR-14215 can be seen on the tail. Two men are standing alongside of the plane in the left frame. A truck with "Springer" on the door is parked in the background in the right frame. There is a man sitting in the truck. In the background center, two fuel tanks are sitting high on a stand. There are checkered flags posted by the tanks.Handwriting on the top front of the photograph reads, "Earl Ortman 1935 Gilmore Special - Bendix Race."
