DescriptionThis image depicts two reindeer in their enclosure at the Zoo in Albuquerque, New Mexico. One of the deer is a juvenile and is laying on the ground. This reindeer is looking directly at the camera. The other deer, the adult, is standing over the younger one facing the left side of the frame. The older reindeer still has the skin (velvet) on its antlers. This signals that the antlers have newly grown back. The visible parts of their enclosure consist of a grassy area surrounded by a metal mesh fence held up by large wooden railroad ties. Also in the pen is a dry bush that is partially visible in the foreground on the left side of the frame and the trunk of a small tree sticking into frame from the right side. Beyond the fence, in the far background is a large leafless tree. Beyond that is a large building that is out of focus.
