DescriptionThis two-part brass medal with a circular bottom and a banner piece over the top includes the two pieces connected with links. The top portion of the medal reads "SOUVENIR" in a large, serifed font, as the top is adorned and framed with detailing. Below the links connecting the second part of the medal is a circular pendant framed with brass foliage tied with a bow. The pendant illustrates a donkey in the center with various tools on its back. The top part of the circular border reads, "20th Annual Fair, New Mexico Territorial Fair Ass'n". The bottom part of the border specifies the location, reading "Albuquerque, N.M." The date is also pictured, reading "Sept. 18 22, 1900". The celebration consists of festivities such as a baseball tournament, including amateur clubs in New Mexico and other neighboring states, tug-of-war, rock drilling, and foot racing contests with money prizes from the Executive Committee, and much more. Among the numerous activities, the fair helped attract many visitors, with many sponsors and contributors of the event sending hospitable invitations to inhabitants in the Southwest, in addition to reduced prices on the railroads for visitors of the fair.On View
