DescriptionThis color photograph is of Jay Spoonheim with a written inscription and signature by Spoonheim underneath. Spoonheim is smiling and posing behind a podium.

The inscription reads:

"Through a glass darkly" is how the Apostle Paul described the Christian view of reality. It is to suggest that true reality can now only be glimpsed by us. I agree. That we see in the immediate, the obvious and apparent in daily life is not what one day will be. There is the "real" and then there is the "really real" as one sojourner expressed it.

My view of reality, then, has to do with my being wrong (?) and informed by the immediate and obvious but not persuaded by it. Rather my "reality" calls me to search the immediate and obvious in order to catch glimpses of the hidden, the "really real" within it. And then to seek to surface it. This is "to live in Christ," the One who's healing. Shalom. Vision of life is for me ultimate reality, the "really real" which now I but glimpse through a glass darkly.
