DescriptionA color photograph of painter Jerry West with a written inscription and signature by West underneath. West is posing on one knee in front of a painting with a mug in his right hand.

The inscription reads:

I assume the worlds inside and outside of me seen by some orderly processes under a guise of "natural law." However I also view the human as an amazing creature of invention, inventing language, symbols, ideas. With all things and situations, natural or human made, we heap on it layers of meanings, we invest it with feelings and emotions. Reality to me then is this incomprehensible blend of the natural world with our invented ones. My journey is the endless scoping out, the constant attempt at balancing, jiggling, engaging dialogue of dream, psychology, myth. Reality becomes the ever present dynamic between the natural and the invented.
