DescriptionThis color photograph is of painter Peter Nisbet with a written inscription and signature by Nisbet underneath. Nisbet is posing on one knee in front of his paintings.

The inscription reads:

Many years ago I began a journey. As I crossed mountain ranges each vista was more exquisite than the one before it. From my high vantage points I beheld a gleaming iridescent paradise on the far horizon. I endeavored for years to reach it without success. Finally, on the day of my death, I climbed to a summit from which I could survey all the world. Looking out into the immense distance I saw that same nacreous paradise and, in passing, I flew at a great speed toward the horizon. My reality is a journey toward something so elusive and compelling that the journey has become its own destination.
