DescriptionReverend Fred Shuttlesworth is photographed mid-speech in this black and white photograph. He is speaking at the pulpit in Brown Chapel in Selma, Alabama. His face cannot be seen but hui silhouette has been captured against the bright white wall of the chapel in the background. His arm is blurry as it is being raising in a fist and his head is tilted back in front of a microphone. A man can also be seen sitting just behind where Rev. Shuttlesworth is standing. The background shows a large white wall and a curved stone ceiling that has been engraved. An arched window is also visible in the wall. Both the wall and the ceiling are illuminated in light, darkening the rest of the photograph. On View
