DescriptionThis object is a type of Weitlaner Retractor used to hold tissue apart during surgical operations. A serrated circular thumb screw at the top of the object is operated to either open and close the retracting arms, which are located below. The arms each have four prongs bent to an approximate 90° angle emerging on one side. Heavy levels of rust and corrosion are visible around the jaws, with more mild amounts of corrosion visible near the various hinges of the object.
