DescriptionThis copper printing plate was designed for mass-printing calling cards for Mrs. Harriet I. Cadugan. Copper prints were used for reproducing business and calling cards, used to signify a visit made to a house if the occupant is absent or an introduction. The rectangular plate has the title and name embossed with the letters mirrored for stamping. The writing is cursive and as the text on this plate is for printing, the upper case letters are taller, reversed, and below the text line, and the punctuation appears reversed. On View
