DescriptionThe exterior of Mile-End Grocery, location in New Mexico. The store is housed in a small single-story wood sided building. A ditch with a wooden boardwalk over it separates the shop from the dirt road. There is a raised deck in front of the shop with boxes and crates stacked in one corner. Beside the shop is a small adobe building. Several advertisements are painted onto the building's exterior: "THE MILE-END," "GROCERY," "PROVISIONS," "FINE CANDY," and "CIGARS AND TOBACCO." On a tall wooden post outside the store is a sign on a piece of wood nailed to the post reading, "TIENDA BARATA." Five figures pose outside the store behind the ditch. A small child in a gigot puffed long sleeved dress and a high-crown hat holding the hand of a man in high waisted trousers, a collared shirt with suspenders and a bowtie, and a newsboy cap. Beside him on the other side of the post is a women dressed in a shirtwaist outfit and holds a baby. Beside her, is another women in a long pinstriped skirt and round collard top. There is a shawl over her shoulders and holds a dark colored umbrella over her head.
