DescriptionA street view of West Gold Avenue in New Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Two-story brick storefronts line a paved sidewalk and dirt road. The Daily Citizen Office at 113 West Gold Avenue has a fabric canopy over the display windows which is bunched and tied up against the building. Next door is a grocery store. On this block, at 115 West Gold Avenue on the second floor, was the original Cobb Studio photography shop location. The shop was also where the owner, William H. Cobb resided.

New Town was one of the first Anglo settlements on Tiwa land in what is now Albuquerque, established about two miles east of Albuquerque's first Hispanic city center (contemporary Old Town). New Town spanned the railyards district and a few blocks west in Albuquerque's downtown.

Emulsion deterioration is occurring on the glass plate causing distortion and emulsion loss. The glass plate is broken in two pieces.
