BiographyHenry A. Wallace (1888-1965) served as the 33rd Vice President of the United States under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Born into a prominent farming family in Iowa, Wallace’s early experiences led to his appointment as U.S. Secretary of Agriculture from 1933 to 1940. In this role, he revolutionized agricultural policy, traveling across the country to engage with farmers and publishing influential books on farming practices. Wallace became Vice President in 1940, where he took on additional responsibilities, including overseeing the Board of Economic Welfare. On the global stage, he played a key role in strengthening relationships with Latin America, China, and the Soviet Union. Although he was not selected for a second vice-presidential term in 1944, Wallace later briefly served as Secretary of Commerce.
